  • Research summary

Surplus blood serum samples sent to the virology department from primary care from patients presenting with symptoms suggestive of glandular fever which are not tested for HIV will be anonymised and unlinked. They will then undergo HIV RNA viral load testing. This will provide a prevalence of HIV in this cohort of patients. The results can then be used to promote increased HIV testing in primary care.
