  • Data collection arrangements

The proposed database would store anonymised images of ultrasound scans. These scans have been performed either as part of previous research projects, or as part of routine clinical care. All the scans are of unborn babies, and include babies that are healthy as well as babies with known health problems. The images would be held securely within King's College London, and there would be no way of linking any of the images with an person, as all identifiable information will have been removed.

  • Research programme

Our plan is to use these images to develop computer programmes, using artificial intelligence, that can help clinicians identify when health problems are visible on ultrasound images.
