Research summary
PlaqueTec has collected blood samples as part of an earlier First In Man clinical study for its novel sampling catheter, the Liquid Biopsy System (LBS). The study was intended to collect safety and performance information that could be used to gain CE mark for the LBS as a sampler of coronary blood. These samples were stored as plasma for use in future research for heart disease in accordance with the ethical approval gained for the FIM study. PlaqueTec has set up a collaboration with a leading Pharmaceutical company to analyse these plasma samples. By analysing samples collected using PlaqueTec’s device and using a wide range of analytical technologies available to the pharmaceutical company, this study will generate very significant new insights into the molecules associated with the development and progression of coronary arterial disease (CAD). This is very important as CAD has a huge impact on human health.
