Research summary
This research aims to assess the performance of MRI radiographers in the vetting and protocolling of neurological/neuro-surgical clinical conditions in 40 questionnaires compared against an expert panel of consultant neuro-radiologists (reference standards) against whose standards the MRI radiographers will be scored.
Test questionnaires consisting of forty clinical scenarios for MRI examinations of the brain and spine will be vetted and protocolled by a group of MRI radiographers and consultant neuro-radiologists. Using a same-subject experimental and correlation designs, the participants will first be tested on vetting and protocolling to get their baseline knowledge(stage 1). They will then be exposed to a series of neuro-specific lectures by neuro-radiologists, then tested again to see if the lectures make any differences in performance(stage 2). The correlational designs is to check for levels of vetting and protocolling agreement between radiographers and radiologists.
non-parametric statistical analyses will be carried out to check levels of agreement between radiographers and radiologists using both Kappa and weighted Kappa tests. The difference in performance pre- and post-educational interventions will be assessed using experimental data analyses.REC name
