Research summary
Bone marrow aspirates/samples are central to the study of adult stem cells for regenerative medicine application. Bone marrow has been collected as part of a number of studies at our institution with ethics approval being the responsibility of the individual researcher and not the collecting surgeon. Bone marrow is readily available for sampling during elective and emergency orthopaedic surgery. We as surgeons are excited about contributing to science in a responsible manner. We therefore seek ethical approval to collect bone marrow samples at our institution for basic science research.
