Research summary
Caring for a person with dementia can be a demanding task and many carers experience high levels of stress and burden. Research studies have shown that educating carers on dementia and teaching carers coping skills can improve their well-being and mental health. The aim of this project is to improve well-being and reduce stress in carers of people with dementia by means of a brief education and training program that is made widely available to carers in Grampian, including in rural and remote areas. The program will involve education on dementia, teaching coping skills and behaviour management. Carer training will be delivered by trainers who can be professionals from health and social care services or individuals from charities and voluntary organisations.
