  • Research summary

This research project is to look at the experience of patients with Parkinson’s disease who also have pain. The sort of pain we are interested in is called musculoskeletal pain and is caused by muscle cramps, poor posture etc.\nWe will interview up to 15 people with pain and Parkinson’s about how they live everyday with these conditions. We will ask them to complete pain and Parkinson’s questionnaires and then we will audio-record an interview where we will ask about their everyday life and how pain affects them. It will take place as a one off home visit session. \n\nResults from the questionnaire will be compared to see how they relate to each other. The interviews will give patients an opportunity to expand our understanding of living with Parkinson’s and pain, concentrating on the areas that affect each participant the most. The interviews will be transcribed and common themes identified.\n\nThe project goal is to give a detailed insight into the main issues of living with and managing musculoskeletal pain and Parkinson’s disease.\n
