Research summary
Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA) is a relatively unknown hair condition, which is becoming increasingly common. We aim to recruit a cohort of patients diagnosed with FFA and under the care of Brighton General Hospital. We will be investigating the natural history of the condition by undertaking a clinical review and examination. We will use questionnaires to investigate the possible causative factors predisposing to the development of FFA, how it affects quality of life and the possible psychological consequences. The findings may give us more information so that we may be able to prevent and diagnose the condition more successfully in the future. A comparable number of patients, without a diagnosis of FFA, will be recruited as controls so that we are able to identify any differences in psychological well-being or causative factors present contributing to the onset of FFA.
