  • Research summary

The study is based on some pilot work undertaken at Trafford General Hospital where open visiting was introduced onto the Stroke ward. They had reported positive outcomes but no formal evaluation was undertaken. There is little supported evidence of the benefits of open visiting not just on patients, relatives/visitors experience but important outcomes such as length of stay in hospital, falls and complaints.
