Research summary
Incidence and resource use associated with veno-occlusive disease and other adverse events of special interest in patients with haematological cancers – A cancer registry study in England.
Veno-occlusive disease (VOD) is a rare but serious disorder of the liver. VOD is a condition in which some of the small veins in the liver are obstructed. VOD and other adverse events (any untoward medical occurrence in a patient) are often referred to as adverse events of special interest (AESI) among patients with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). The objective of this study is to examine the occurrence (frequency) , outcomes and health care resource use associated with VOD and other AESI among patients with ALL and other haematological cancers.
The research is limited to data collection from the datasets obtained from the NCRAS (national cancer registration and analysis service) via Public Health England's Office for Data Release. There will be no contact with the patients and all the information in the datasets obtained will be de-personalised data.
