Research summary
The start of a general anaesthetic in elderly patientshaving hip fracture surgery can cause low blood Pressure, leading to heart and brain problems.Compared to giving anaesthetic drugs into a patientsveins, breathing in anaesthetic drugs seems to cause a smaller fall in blood Pressure. This study intends to use relatively low concentrations of inhaled anaesthetic to anaesthetise elderly patients with hip fracture, and observe the direct effects on blood Pressure.
