As part of our ongoing commitment to streamlining research activities, all NHS sponsors of Phase I-III oncology trials and Phase III non-oncology trials in England and Wales are expected to submit their studies for review through the Pharmacy Assurance self-managed process from 1 April 2020.
The technical assurances team is running a series of face to face workshops to support this. Workshops are aimed at NHS sponsors and co-sponsors, Research and Development (R&D) staff, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working at NHS Trusts and health boards in England and Wales, and pharmacists and pharmacy technicians currently registered with the HRA to review studies through Pharmacy Assurance.
The sessions will help NHS sponsors, R&D departments and pharmacy staff get ready to submit their studies for review through Pharmacy Assurance; understand how the self-managed review process benefits applicants; and provide detail on what the process will mean at participating site level. Workshops will be interactive and informal with the aim of increasing preparedness for submission through Pharmacy Assurance. The sessions also aim to provide information for pharmacy staff on what the review process entails, how the review can be incorporated into their local practices and how to register to review studies through the HRA.
Non-NHS sponsors can still submit through Pharmacy Assurance; we remain open to all Phase I-III oncology and Phase III non-oncology CTIMPs. Further information is available on our Pharmacy Assurance pages.
There will be two sessions on each day, running from 10am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm. Whilst the workshops are open to all who are interested and will focus on process and benefits, the morning session is primarily aimed at pharmacy staff, with the afternoon session for applicants. Refreshments will be provided.
