Following the results of the general election on Friday 5 July we now have a new government and cabinet in post.
The Labour Party’s manifesto and plan for the life sciences sector includes commitments that we will play a part in making happen:
- lead the world in clinical trials by speeding up recruitment and improving the diversity of people who participate in research
- make it easier to take part in research via the NHS App
- continue the work to implement the recommendations made by Lord O’Shaughnessy in the review of commercial clinical trials in the UK
- create a new Regulatory Innovation Office to help regulators update regulation and speed up approval timelines
We are looking forward to working with the new government to realise these.
