We have updated guidance on our website to reflect some recent changes within the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
In late 2024 NIHR announced the launch of the Research Delivery Network (RDN), a new organisation set up to respond to the changing requirements of the health and care research system. It took over from the Clinical Research Network (CRN).
The RDN supports the delivery of high quality research across England.
To reflect this change, we have updated references to CRN in guidance on our website. There are no changes in the practical steps you need to take.
HRA Approval
We have updated references from CRN to RDN in our guidance explaining what steps you need to take to apply for HRA and HCRW Approval.
This includes the steps you need to take when completing an application in IRAS, validating costing templates and when to contact your Regional Research Delivery Network.
Accessing study support and advice services
Depending on where you plan to carry out your research, and whether it is commercially or non-commercially sponsored, there is different support available to you.
In England, commercial sponsors can request support from NIHR. For non-commercial studies, support is different in each nation.
We have updated the references in this section from CRN to RDN.
