Disruption to our digital systems (now resolved)

Last updated on 22 Jan 2024

Update 22 January 2024 (5pm)

The major incident is now resolved and all systems are working as usual. Thank you for your patience.

We have declared a major incident because of disruption to some of our digital systems.

The systems impacted are:

  • Standard IRAS
  • HARP, which our Research Ethics Committee members and staff use to manage applications and amendments
  • TOPS, the overvolunteering prevention system, a database which prevents participants from taking part too frequently in trials of new medicines

Whilst users can still log in to the new part of IRAS, which is used to apply for clinical trials, not all of the functionality is working. We cannot accept e-submission of amendments and it’s not possible to book a REC meeting.

We are managing this as a highest priority and will update this page and our social channels - X and LinkedIn - as soon as we know more.

Please don’t contact us to let us know that you’re having problems using our digital systems, our teams are focussed on sorting the disruption as soon as possible.

If you need to contact us on any other issues, please find the relevant email addresses and phone numbers on the contact us page on our website.
